Wish list stress - it's a thing!

Wish list stress, het bestaat! Ken je dat gevoel wanneer je een item van de webshop écht wil maar beter nog een weekje of twee wacht vooraleer je kredietkaart te belasten? Ik zat er middenin. Wat een stress! Ik wilde die Oscar de la Renta-oorbellen maar evenzeer wilde ik de rekening een maandje uitstellen. Maar wat als ze ineens uitverkocht zouden raken? Of - een bijkomend probleem in de sales periode - ze in de sale zouden komen en ik veel meer zou betalen door ze te vroeg te bestellen ? Gelukkig ken ik al heel wat trucjes om bij het onlineshoppen wat meer gemoedsrust te krijgen. Klik op 'meer lezen' en ontdek ze (en de oorbellen die ik zo graag wou).

Wish list stress, it really is a thing! Do you know the feeling when you really want to buy a particular piece online but is better to wait a week of two before charging it to your credit card? I was right in the middle of it. I really - really - wanted those Oscar de la Renta earrings but it was necessary to postpone the bill for a month. But what if they would sell out? Or - an extra problem during the sales period - what if they would go on sale and I would have paid full price? Luckily I have some tricks up my sleeve when shopping online to ease my mind a bit. Op de desbetreffende site zie je bij kleding wel of er low stock is van een bepaalde maat maar bij accessoires zie je dat niet. Tenzij (truc 1) je ze aan je wish list toevoegt. Hello, wish list!

Ook kan je checken hoeveel exemplaren je aan je winkelmandje kan toevoegen vooraleer de stock is uitgeput (truc 2) - met soms astronomische bedragen tot gevolg en de drang om je winkelmandje snel weer wat leger te maken. Je moest per ongeluk maar eens alle items bestellen.

En natuurlijk hebben de meeste webshops een app die je meteen verwittigt als het low stock is (wat 'nog twee stuks' betekent). Of voor de waaghalzen die dan nog wachten 'only 1 left'. Zo bracht ik de afgelopen week al checkend en duimend door. Want ik ging flink zijn. Geen uitgaven die eigenlijk niet kunnen. Tenzij het aantal in voorraad ineens sterk zou dalen - er zijn grenzen aan mijn wilskracht. Wat mis ik op zo'n momenten irl shoppen in een winkel waar je een voorschot betaalt en de vriendelijke verkoper alles een maandje opzij legt. Al biedt onlineshoppen ook voordelen: webwinkels staan meer open voor onderhandelen als er ineens korting is en jij net iets te vroeg besteld hebt. En het aanbod online is beduidend groter. Alleen dat leveren is soms nog lastig, maar dat is iets voor een andere post.

Hoe het ook zij, de oorbellen zijn besteld, aangekomen en goedgekeurd. En nu ga ik even wegblijven van webshops. Al betekent dat niet dat mijn wish list leeg is ;-) Happy 2017 xoxo

On the site in question you can see whether an item of clothing in a particular size is 'low stock' but you cannot see it for accessories. Unless (trick 1) you add them to your wish list. Hello, wish list!

You can also check exactly how many items are left (trick 2): just add them to your shopping basket until the stock is exhausted. Sometimes this results in an astronomical amount and you have the urge to quickly empty your basket should you accidentally order all items.

And of course most online shops have an app to alert you when the stock is low (which means most of the time that there are only two items left). Daredevils who risk to wait longer get an 'only one left' notification. So I spent last week waiting and hoping. Cause I was going to be a good girl and not spend anyhthing before I was allowed to. Or unless it was 'low stock' - there are limits to my willpower. Those are the moments I miss shopping irl in boutiques where you pay an advance and a friendly salesperson puts the item on hold for you. But online shopping has other advantages: online shops are more open to negotiating when you buy something full price and the item is shortly after reduced in price. And of course you have a lot more choice when shopping online. Only delivery can be a pain, but that is something for another post.

Anyway, the earrings are ordered, delivered and approved. And now I'm staying away from webshops for a while...that doesn't mean my wish list is empty though ;-) Happy 2017 xoxo
