Christmas gift ideas for fashion lovers

Are you ready for Christmas? I did my shopping early, so now I can relax and work on a blogpost with gift suggestions instead. If you are still looking for a perfect gift for a fashionista or fashionisto for a small (or a tad bigger) budget, you can find some inspiration here.

Fashion Oracles cards
A fortune teller reveals your future, but who do you turn to for fashion forecasts and advice? These cards are the answer. As it says on the box "Change your life with fashion. Consult the oracles today! Find enlightment at the high altar of fashion with three pieces of advice inspired by the oracles: attitude - style - inspiration." My style advice for tomorrow comes from Anna Wintour. In Antwerp you can buy these at 't Stad Leest. But they are also available on Amazon and other online shops. Price: around 15 euro.

Learn from the Parisiennes
If you are looking for a gift for a Paris lover who knows how to read in French - look no more. Just give him or her a year subscription to the 'Do it in Paris' magazine (4 magazines). The website has been around for some time and gives tips for a Parisienne lifestyle. The magazine is a fun addition and answers questions like: What can you do with 100 euro at the Place Vendôme? Where do you find the best truffle toasts? Where are the best anti burn-out massages parlors... The illustrations by Angéline Melin are adorable. You can get a subscription on the 'Do it in Paris' site for 20 euro a year.

Fashion illustration
Why not give the one you love a fashion illustration of him- of herself? It's probably too late to get the illustration by Christmas (although you can always ask) but you can still give a gift certificate from Art Design by Brooke or Angéline Melin (who does the illustrations for Do it in Paris) for example. Prices starting from 45 euro (portrait 1 person) to 70 euro (1 person from head to toe),  + 30 euro for background and +10 euro for an animal, for an illustration by Angéline Melin and 80 USD for a digital portrait by Art Design By Brooke. You can see samples of their work on their Instagram pages: @angelinemelin and @alittlethingscustomco.

The illustration Art Design by Brooke did for me.

Thé best macarons de Paris ever
If you have ever tasted the macarons of Pierre Hermé, you don't want any other anymore. Luckily you can order them online if you live in Europe. Granted, the shipping costs are high, but still cheaper than going to Paris. Be sure to not only order the classics (or Signatures), but also the season's specials (Les Adorables). A box of 12 Les Adorables is 35 euro (+ 25 euro for delivery to Belgium).

A fashionable lipstick
If your fashionista friend loves wearing lisptick, give her an ultra fashionable lipstick by Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo. I was lucky enough to attend the opening event in Paris and received a goodie bag with the Lip Lights Liquid Matte Lipstick in 'Iconic Red'. I love how the texture dries and stays put without dehydrating your lips. I liked it so much that I ordered four other lipsticks immediately after using it. Sadly the limited edition collection is almost sold out. But you can still find some colours on douglas.nl (at 50% off for 10 euro) and douglas.it (19,95 euro). If you google, you might find more webshops.

A customized gift
A designer handbag isn't the hottest thing in town anymore, a customized bag is. Kelly from The Art Club works her paint magic on handbags (all bags, not only designer bags). For me she handpainted the illustration from Art Design by Brooke on an old Louis Vuitton pochette. I hardly used the bag anymore but now that it has gotten an update I use it a lot again. You can order a gift certificate and contact Kelly through her Instagram-page on which you find her contact information. The price depends on the size of the illustration and the work involved. I paid 100 euro.

A witty read for Dutch-speaking fashion lovers
If you speak Dutch I can recommend the book 'De vermaledijde mode' by Amélie O. I received the  book as a gift for my birthday and I enjoyed reading the witty and well written columns. The author who started writing the columns for Elle Magazine, gives her unvarnished opinion of the fashion world and those who live in it. You can read about all that fashion insight for only 19,99 euro - available at Standaard Boekhandel and other stores.

Quotes galore
If you read my blog, you know I love a good fashion quote. For those who also love to read what the fashion gods have to say, the book 'Fashion Quotes - Stylish Wit & Catwalk Wisdom' by Patrick Maurièes and Jean-Christophe Napias is a great gift idea. You can buy the book on many webshops, for example that of the publisher Thames & Hudson (19,95 USD).

Something for young (and older) fashionistas
You could already guess I love fashion illustrations by one of the previous gift ideas. The latest book by Australian illustrator Megan Hess is actually for children, but I love her style so much that I also added it to my birthday wish list. I received the fun tale in English and adore all the drawings of the fashionable mouse Claris who has an adventure in Paris. You can find it online, for example at bol.com for 15.99 euro.

What gift would you like to receive? A note for my friends: I have all these (except for a drawing by Angéline Melin - hint hint), so you'll have to surprise me with something else...or some macarons because I have already finished the ones I brought from Paris last time :-D
