Personal style in '25 X Stijl' and eyecatchers in Modemuseum Hasselt

Wil je weten wat de lievelingsoutfit van Jani Kazaltzis is of hoe een Carven-jurk uit 1950 er uitziet (lang voor het tijdperk van Guillaume Henry)? Dan moet je zeker naar Modemuseum Hasselt gaan waar momenteel twee tentoonstellingen lopen ter ere van het 25-jarige bestaan van het museum: '25 X Stijl' en 'Collectie 02(5) - 25 jaar Modemuseum Hasselt'. De eerste loopt nog maar tot 18 mei, de tweede tot 14 september.

Then you certainly must visit the fashion museum in Hasselt where there are currently two exhibitions in honor of the 25th birthday of the museum: '25 X Stijl' and 'Collection 02(5) - 25 Years Modemuseum Hasselt'. You can visit the first one till May 18th and the second one till September 14th.

25 X Stijl
In deze pop-uptentoonstelling ontdekken bezoekers de favoriete looks van 25 (vooral Belgische) bekende personen uit de culinaire, kunst-, mode-, muziek- en acteerwereld. Benieuwd naar het kostuum dat  Bent Van Looy droeg op het Vestrock festival, de kunstige jas ontworpen door Koen Vanmechelen, de ‘high fashion’ van De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, de favoriete nieuwsoutfit van tv-anker Hanne Decoutere, de lievelingslook van fashion lady Tiany Kiriloff, het 100% Belgisch ensemble van Helmut Lotti en nog veel meer? Je kan het allemaal zien in Hasselt.

This pop-up exhibition lets visitors discover the favorite looks of 25 famous (mostly Belgian) persons from the culinary, art, fashion, music and movie scene. Curious what costume Bent Van Looy wore when performing at the Vestrock festival, the artful coat designed by Koen Vanmechelen, the 'high fashion' of 'De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig', the favorite look of news presenter Hanne Decoutere, the most loved outfit of fashion lady Tiani Kiriloff, the 100% Belgian ensemble of Helmut Lotti and a lot more? Collectie 02(5) - 25 jaar Modemuseum Hasselt / 25 Years Modemuseum Hasselt
Een selectie van topstukken uit de museumcollectie biedt de bezoeker een blik op de veranderende tijdsgeest. Naast de zeldzame pareltjes krijgen ook nooit eerder getoonde stukken de nodige aandacht. Zij illustreren hoe bepaalde kledingstukken en accessoires van ‘must-have items’ evolueerden tot herinneringen aan vervlogen tijden. Technieken en materialen die de mode doorheen de eeuwen kleurden, illustreren hoe de mode zichzelf steeds opnieuw uitvindt. Modemuseum Hasselt belicht zo de samenstelling van zijn collectie en het belang van het verzamelen van kleding voor het lezen van de geschiedenis (1750 - 2014).

By means of an historic overview of the museum’s highlights (1750 - 2014), visitors will get an insight into the ever-changing eras. Apart from the rare gems, items that have never been displayed before will also receive their fair share of attention, illustrating how certain clothes evolved from ‘must-have items’ to memories of a distant past. Techniques and fabrics that have altered fashion throughout the centuries will demonstrate how fashion keeps reinventing itself.
