Antwerp welcomes Chanel

Vorige week gonsde het ineens van de geruchten op sociale media: er was een winkel in opbouw van Chanel gespot in de Schuttershofstraat. Afgelopen donderdag (24 juli) opende die boetiek effectief zijn deuren voor het publiek. Vanaf nu heeft Antwerpen dus een eigen Chanel-boetiek - de tweede in België na Brussel. Het prachtige pand is gelegen in de straat die door Antwerpse mode-insiders ook wel eens de 'Fifth Avenue van Antwerpen' wordt genoemd omwille van de vele luxemerken die er hun thuis hebben gevonden.

Last week the social media were abuzz with rumours - Antwerp fashionistas had spotted a store under construction with Chanel on it in the Schuttershofstraat. Last Thursday, July 24th, the store in question opened for the public. From now on Antwerp has its very own Chanel boutique - the second in Belgium after Brussels. The beautiful building is located in the street that by fashion insiders is known as 'the Antwerp Fifth Avenue' because of the many luxury labels that have found a home there.

Zoals voor alle Chanel-boetieks in de wereld werden het concept en de inrichting van dit nieuwe adres  toevertrouwd aan de architect Peter Marino, die werd geïnspireerd door het raffinement van het privé-appartement van Mademoiselle Chanel, op rue Cambon 31 in Parijs.

As for all the Chanel boutiques worldwide the architect Peter Marino is responsible for the concept and interior design of this new address - inspired by the refinement of Mademoiselle Chanel's own appartment on the rue Cambon 31 in Paris.

De nieuwe boetiek strekt zich over 100m² uit en is in vier ruimtes ingedeeld. De entree onthult twee ruimtes die gewijd zijn aan schoenen en aan accessoires. De iconische tassen en nieuwigheden van het seizoen, kleine lederwaren, 'costume jewellery', sjaals en brillen worden hier gepresenteerd. Een ruim salon met comfortabele sofa’s en twee ruime kleedkamers, is het decor voor de prêt-à-porter.

The new boutique is 100m² and is divided into four spaces. The entrance consists of two spaces devoted to shoes and accessories: the iconic handbags and novelties of the season, small leather goods, costume jewellery, scarves and glasses. A lounge with comfortable sofas and two dressing rooms is the decor for the prêt-à-porter collection.

Kunstenaar Peter Dayton creëerde speciaal voor deze boetiek het werk 'Camilla', dat de door Mademoiselle zo geliefde camelia’s oproept.

Artist Peter Dayton created especially for this boutique his work 'Camilla', that invokes the by Mademoiselle beloved camellias.
