Mini Minnie exhibition in Antwerp fashion museum - Maison Minnie Mouse

Dat Minnie Mouse modegevoel heeft weten we al langer. Of is het aan jullie aandacht ontsnapt dat Alber Elbaz van Lanvin een jurk heeft ontworpen voor het trendy muizenmeisje? En dat ze - samen met andere Disney-figuurtjes - een fashion make-over kreeg van modetempel Barney's? Ook was ze al eens onderwerp van een project tijdens London Fashion Week. En dat is lang niet alles. Wie het vergeten is, kan onderaan deze blogpost zijn geheugen deels opfrissen.

That Minnie Mouse has a sense of fashion, may be no surprise. Or did it escape your attention that Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz created a dress especially for the little mouse? And that she - and other Disney characters - got a makeover by fashion temple Barney's? She has also been the subject of a project during London Fashion Week. Those who forgot, can refresh their memory partly at the end of this post.

Minnie Mouse is ook een bron van inspiratie voor mode-ontwerpers. En dat blijkt uit de mini-expo rond Minnie (ja, een woordgrapje) in de inkomhal van het Antwerpse ModeMuseum. Tot en met zondag 20 april kunnen nieuwsgierigen de gratis expo bezoeken. Vijf jonge ontwerpers die afgestudeerd zijn aan Belgische modescholen geven er hun interpretatie van een outfit voor Minnie. Damien Ravn, Doriane Van Overeem, Emmanuelle Lebas, KRJST en Minju Kim gingen de uitdaging aan. Daarnaast zie je creaties van een paar vooraanstaande modehuizen waarin Minnie of Disney de hoofdrol speelt, zoals een Bambi-tas van Givenchy.
De gratis expo is een must voor mode- of Minnie-liefhebbers. Ik ben beide, dus ik heb er van genoten.

Minnie Mouse also is a source of inspiration for fashion designers. That is shown in the mini exhibition (pun intended) in the entrance hall of the Antwerp fashion museum (MoMu). Until Sunday April 20th everybody can discover the exhibition for free. Five young designers who all graduated from Belgian fashion colleges were asked to design an outfit for Minnie. Damien Ravn, Doriane Van Overeem, Emmanuelle Lebas, KRJST and Minju Kim accepted the challenge. At the exhibition you also see Minnie or Disney inspired creations by some well known names in fashion, like a Bambi handbag by Givenchy. The exhibition is a must for Minnie or fashion lovers. Since I am both, I really enjoyed it.
