In het modewoordenboek vandaag: 'satchel'.

-satchel: bjj gebrek aan een goed Nederlands woord, vertrek ik hier ook van de Engelse term. Een satchel is een handtas geïnspireerd op een boekentas. Traditioneel heeft een satchel een schouderband, een flap aan de voorkant en twee riempjes om de tas vast te maken. Al is dat laatste kenmerk er niet meer altijd bij (zoals bij de zwarte tas op de eerste foto) of bestaan er variaties op (zoals op de tweede foto). Satchels zijn nog steeds populair en dat is deels te wijten aan Alexa Chung. Zij heeft zelfs een Mulberry-tas die naar haar vernoemd is (de gele tas op de eerste foto).

- satchel: a satchel is a handbag inspired by a school bag. Traditionally a satchel has a shoulder strap, a front flap and buckle straps to fasten it. This last feature is sometimes omitted (like with the black bag in the first picture) or adapted (like in the second picture). Satchels are still very popular, partly thanks to Alexa Chung. She even has a Mulberry bag named after her (the yellow bag in the first picture).
