A trip to Cologne with Thalys - part 2: the hotel

Na een interessante doch vermoeiende voormiddag wandelden we met de gids naar het hotel. We verbleven in Hopper, een voormalig klooster omgebouwd tot hotel. Hopper is gelegen in de Belgische wijk in Keulen (Brüsseler Straße) en op een boogscheut van het modefestival Le Bloc dat we gingen bezoeken. De voormalige kloosterelementen zijn op een subtiele manier verwerkt in het moderne designhotel. Enkel de priester in de lobby is iets minder subtiel. Het hotel is een aanrader, met leuke extra's, zoals de iPhone/iPod-box op de kamer en een superontbijt. Belangrijk: het is er kraaknet. Nog een tip: neem je eigen zeep en shampoo mee, de zeepdispenser is het enige kleine minpuntje aan dit geweldige hotel. Volgende keer de post waar jullie allemaal op zitten te wachten: het modefestival Le Bloc.

After an interesting but tiring morning we followed our guide to the hotel. We stayed at Hopper, a former convent. Hopper is situated in the Belgian quarter of Cologne (Brüsseler Straße), and very near the fashion festival Le Bloc that we were going to visit. The original elements of the convent are subtly incorporated into the modern design hotel. Only the priest in the lobby is more prominent. The hotel is definitely recommended with nice extra's such as the iPhone/iPod-box and the great breakfast. Very important: everything is extremely clean. One last tip: bring your own soap and shampoo, the soap dispenser is the only minor disadvantage to this superb hotel. Next time the post you have all been waiting for: the fashion festival Le Bloc.
